Portal Evolution — Build Phase History

This page records how the portal itself was built, phase by phase. It is a historical record, not part of the executive architecture story — the Portfolio Overview describes the platform; this page describes the documentation of the platform. For the line-by-line log see the Changelog.

The portal was assembled in deliberate phases, each additive and evidence-first. No phase modified the underlying architecture; each one documented more of it.

Phase C — Capability Architecture

The portal began documenting reusable capabilities independently of the repositories that implement them: the Capability Registry and the Capability Reuse Map. This shifted the portal from a repository catalogue to an architectural source of truth (ADR 0004).

Phase D — Ecosystem Architecture Review (recommendations only)

A holistic enterprise-architecture review: Architecture Review · Risks · Strategic Opportunities · Recommended Architecture Evolution. Its headline proposal — a Platform Services layer extracting reusable services out of venture repos — is captured as proposed ADR 0005. The layer model was left unchanged; the review recommends, it does not modify.

Phase E — Operating Model

The portal began documenting how the ecosystem operates, not just what exists: the Operating Model section covers the work lifecycle, the Knowledge Asset Lifecycle, Concept Ownership, the authoritative Portfolio Glossary, Context Architecture, Operating Principles, and the AI Collaboration Model. Documentation only — no architecture modified.

Phase F — Architecture Governance

The portal began documenting how the ecosystem evolves: the Architecture Governance section defines the decision process, the Capability Decision Framework & Matrix, the Repository Lifecycle, Documentation Governance, AI Governance, and the Architecture Review Lifecycle (ADR 0006). Documentation only — no architecture modified.

Phase G — Portal as a Product

The portal became a generated website over a build-time Portfolio Graph, gained a deterministic Portfolio Health engine, and then a guided Architecture Story (/story). See the Changelog for the G-series detail (ADR 0007).
